Obsessive thoughts can be troubling for days, even causing sleepless nights. A thought may go around and around in the mind, repeating itself time and time again. Instead of trying to escape from the obsessive thought, learn to embrace and examine it. Then you may conclude that it is, after all, just a thought. It doesn’t have to rule the mind and take away your inner peace. Remind yourself however persistent it is, it still just a thought, then it is easier to let go…… You don’t have to learn how to control your thoughts; you just have to stop letting them control you.
This is why I love do doodle drawing; it allows me to put away all the negative thinking. Doodling is the unconscious or unfocused drawings made while otherwise preoccupied. But that is not always the case. Like many people, I resort to doodling as a place of escape—from boredom waiting at yet another airport gate, a distraction during a long-winded lecture, or a way to pass time at a meeting. To me, doodling is purposeful action that more than mindlessness.
